1994: Parakala Prabhakar Contested the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections on Congress ticket and lost the elections by 20,000 votes.
1996: Contested the Lok Sabha by-elections from the Narsapuram Assembly Constituency and lost it by a narrow margin.
1996: Left the Congress Party.
1997: Joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
1998: Contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Narsapuram Assembly Constituency and lost again
1999: Became the spokesperson of the BJP from Andhra Pradesh
1999: Became the member of the BJP’s national economic cell that guided the party’s economic policy and the member of a task force of the Planning Commission of India that formulated the Xth Five Year Plan.
2006: Contested the general elections from the constituency of East and West Godavari Districts and lost it for the fourth time. Subsequently, resigned from BJP.
2008: Extended his support to establish Prajarajyam Party.
2014: Appointed as the Communications Advisor to the Andhra Pradesh Government.
2018: Resigned from his position of the Communications Advisor to the Andhra Pradesh Government.
