Gautam Gambhir (audio speaker iconpronunciation ( help · word); born 14 October 1981) is an Indian politician and former cricketer, who has played all formats of the game. He's a current member of the Lok Sabha since 2019. He admitted the Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2019, the fourth loftiest martial award in India.

As a cricketer, he was a left-handed opening batsman who played domestic justice for Delhi, and captained Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Devils in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Bangladesh in 2003, and played his first Test the succeeding time against Australia. He captained the Indian platoon in six ODIs from late 2010 to late 2011 with India winning all six matches. He played an integral part in India's triumphs in the tests of both the 2007 World Twenty20 (75 runs from 54 balls) and the 2011 Cricket World Cup (97 from 122). Under Gambhir's captaincy, Kolkata Knight Riders won their first IPL title in 2012 and went on to win the title again in 2014. Gambhir was the only Indian and one of four multinational cricketers to have scored hundreds in five successive Test matches. He's the only Indian batsman to have scored further than 300 runs in four successive Test series. As of April 2018, he's the sixth loftiest run- arranger for India in Twenty20 Internationals. In October 2018, during the quarter- tests of the 2018 – 19 Vijay Hazare Jewel, he scored his th run in List A justice. In December 2018, he blazoned his pullback from all forms of justice. In 2019, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and won election to the Lok Sabha from East Delhi.

Indian Premier League

Gambhir was picked up by the Delhi Devils ballot in the first player trade of the Indian Premier League for a price ofUS$ a time. On 25 April, Gambhir stepped down from captaincy citing poor performances of the platoon, and blazoned Shreyas Iyer as the new captain of the Delhi Devils.

In December 2021, Gambhir was blazoned the tutor of the new IPL ballot Lucknow Super Titans. Gambhir played his first major Test series outside thesub-continent, having voyaged New Zealand in 2009. In the alternate Test match, he scored a match- saving 137 in the alternate innings. He stood further than five sessions in the middle and faced over 430 balls.
